The last time I posted about this, I was a month early. Now I'm posting a day late, because despite all my reminders to myself to post before I left, I still got scrambled and didn't post before I left to come to San Antonio for the National Council of Teachers of English do. But I thought of the trans* folk in mid-air, and while I was tossing and turning last night, and this morning. Actually, I've been thinking of the trans* folk a lot more than that.
If you missed my Goggle search of trans* murder on October 20, here's the one I did today. It's not any more cheerful-making. It's not just that people murder trans*folk that haunts me. It's their need to degrade them after death, depersonalizing and abusing them, trying to maintain it is the victim's fault. I know this says far more about the killer than it does the victim, but how do we get mainstream society to see that?
Here is a link to The Trans Alliance society and one to The Transgender Law and Policy Institute. If you have more, I'll put them up for any of the trans* community who come by. It's a cold old wicked world out there, and we may as well all huddle together for support and warmth, right? And defend each other however we may, because there seem to be way too many predators out there.
